Q – How long has the Elite Organization been around?
A – The Elite Organization was started in Avon, Indiana in 2009.
Q – When will we be notified if my daughter is offered a roster spot?
A – The Elite coaches for each age division will be reviewing the results and the needs for each team at the end of each session. Some girls may be notified within the day or within a week or so. Due to offering several tryout sessions, players may not hear from the Elite coaches for up to 10 days, although we will avoid this delay if at all possible.
Q – How much does it cost to play for Elite?
A – Each Elite coach may have a different team cost due to practice costs, quantity of tournaments, age group and other team specific costs. However, every coach must submit a plan to the Elite Organization for team cost approval. It is our goal to be the premier fastpitch organization at an affordable cost. Most of our teams will range between $800 - $1200 per player per year.
Q – Are the Elite coaches paid for their time?
A – No. All Elite coaches are volunteers. All monies paid into a team are accounted for and neither coaches nor the organization receive any financial benefit.
Q – How many tryout sessions does my daughter have to attend?
A – Players will only need to attend one tryout session.
Q – Do all players who try out make a team?
A – No. We currently are planning to have 1-8u team, 1-10u team, 1-12u team, 1-14u team and 1-16u teams. However, if throughout the tryout process we can expand to more teams, we will review the coaching resources, and make a decision best for the girls and the organization.
Q – Can I watch my daughter’s try out?
A – YES. Parents are allowed to view tryouts, however, neither the coaches nor the organization will respond to questions regarding your daughter’s performance vs. another player.
Q – Is my daughter penalized for trying out as a pitcher or catcher?
A – No. Her scores as a pitcher/catcher will only help her in team placement. With that said, only players who actually play those positions should try out for those positions.
Q – What skills are evaluated at try outs?
A – Throwing (arm strength and accuracy), fielding ground balls and fly balls, hitting and bunting, speed, pitching and catching.
Q – What speed is the pitching machine set at for hitting?
A – If used, these are approximates: At the 10U level, the pitching machine is set at 40 miles per hour, 45 at the 12U level and 50 at the 14U-16U level.
Q – Who are the evaluators?
A – Current Elite coaches as well as former Association coaches who no longer have players in the program.
